Happy Birthday National Parks Service

Sometimes in one's life you discover a factoid that you did not know about your birthday.  Until this week I did not know that my birthday fell on the same day the National Parks Service was created by President Woodrow Wilson 100 years ago on August 25, 1916.

For the past 100 years the National Parks Service has protected and cared for America's national treasures that belong to all Americans.  Each year over 275 million visitors pass through the gates of our National Parks System.  As part of this year's centennial  celebration, NPS has waived park entry fees August 25th through the 28th at all 59 National Parks.  So this weekend why don't you celebrate the National Parks System's 100th birthday by visiting a National Park near you.

Until next time, be safe in the sun and have a great day in the great outdoors.
